Foundation Enrolment Information

Starting school is an exciting time for children, parents and carers. We want to help make the enrolment process as easy as possible for you.

We welcome any general enquires and can conduct School Tours by appointment at any time for all interested families for Foundation 2026. Please email hamilton.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au or phone (03) 5512433 if you would like to book a tour.

Enrolment Procedure

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including our school. You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

In line with this timeline, we can only begin providing and accepting 2026 enrolment forms from the beginning of Term 2, 2025 (Tuesday 22 April 2025).

We will hold an Open Day early in Term 2, for all interested families to see the school in action and ask any questions they may have. The Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack will be available for collection on this day, or at any other time from the beginning of Term 2.

About HNPS

Set amongst a rural backdrop, Hamilton North Primary School has all the feeling of a rural school, set on the edge of town. The spacious grounds provide plenty of space for children to play, with several playgrounds, courts and a large oval.

With a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy, as well as time dedicated to student wellbeing, children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential socially, emotionally and academically. Junior children are taught a phonic approach to reading through daily Sounds Write lessons. Our Foundation students participate in Discovery Learning, allowing them to question, discover and solve problems, whilst also providing the social skills involved in sharing and co-operating.

HNPS develops a strong sense of community and pride through our True North Values: Responsibility, Respect, Co-operation, Empathy and Integrity are explicitly taught and re-enforced daily in our school environment. Our Year 6 Leaders are heavily involved in organising Student Celebration Days and Values Days. These days support student voice and promote leadership skills.

HNPS has a strong background and belief in Restorative Practice. This allows students to learn from their mistakes and repair relationships, by giving them the skills and language to problem solve friendship issues. We have a dedicated wellbeing teacher to support staff and students.

HNPS offers students many opportunities to thrive outside of the regular curriculum, with weekly Art, Music and PE sessions. The Arts are celebrated through a Whole-School Concert and Art Show, run in alternate years, and our Choir performs at many events throughout the year. Students participate in local and regional sporting events, and our biennial True North Adventure Challenge gives students the opportunity to challenge themselves through an obstacle course of mud, slime and water.

We invite families to come and see for themselves the wonderful opportunities and learning that Hamilton North Primary School has to offer. Please phone 55712433 to make an appointment.
