Transition program

Foundation Students

All Foundation children enrolling at Hamilton North Primary School will be offered the opportunity to participate in our annual Transition Program.

The program consists of three morning sessions over a three week period in November and also a full day on “Step Up Day” in early December. The aim is to allow our new Foundation students to join in school activities as well as providing an opportunity for children to establish routines and friendships and to feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

We consider that the benefits of this program to the children and the school are outstanding, ensuring an exciting and successful year by providing them with a happy transition from pre-school to school.

Information will be sent to parents early in Term 4, confirming dates and times for our transition activities. Uniform Order forms will also be available at this time, allowing parents to order uniform during the transition period for distribution prior to the end of the year.

Grade 5/6 Students

The transition to secondary school is an important part of the Grades 5/6 calendar. Staff members liaise closely with the local secondary schools to ensure a smooth transition for all students. Secondary school representatives visit our school throughout the year to familiarise students with the choices available for the following year.

All students are offered the opportunity to attend secondary school orientation programs during the year to enable families to make an informed decision regarding secondary education. Information will be sent to parents confirming dates and times for transition activities.
